Pics of the Venues

So, I'm super excited about the two venues I've chosen, and everything will be outdoors!

The ceremony will take place at the Indianapolis Museum of Art in the Formal Gardens. Pics Below:

The reception will take place at the Eiteljorg Museum in downtown Indianapolis.

Above is the terrace along the canal where it will actually take place.

Wedding Fever

Today, my mom and I went to go look at the two venues I've had in mind for a few months. They look beautiful! Fortunately, we were able to explore the spaces two years ahead of the original date I had selected. But, I just can't do it. It is literally 92 degrees and I feel like it would be such a painful wedding for me. (Lauren, you would have to deal with a lot of minor freakouts from your bff haha).

So, I have reverted back to my original plan: a fall wedding in October - this is for sure this time. And, it's okay that it is over two years from now because it would be great to go to other weddings in between to help come up with some cute ideas.

It seems like this time of the year is wedding fever (June and October), so I thought I would post some of the biggest current trends! (courtesy of the knot)

1. Prohibition-Era Elegance (weird name, I know... but it can work): think 1920s, lace, moonshine, etc.
2. Bold trains are in
3. Ballerina inspired weddings (all it resurrects for me is terrible visions of Black Swan): think pinks, blacks, feathers, etc.
4. Ivy-League Chic Weddings (cute - I'm gonna need this to stay in if I go through with the J.Crew wedding as expected): Vineyard Vines, Khaki suits, etc.
5. Indian inspiration (Cody - perhaps helpful for your mom's wedding?)
6. Pre-wedding pj parties: pampering and bonding with your close friends before the big day? Sounds good to me!
7. Food trucks - I still think it's a little tacky unless worked well with the theme. The reception will be along the canal in Indianapolis, so I don't think that's gonna work...

That explains the different types of trains.

Setting a Date

Being engaged is great, even though I still have to remember to say the word "fiancé" instead of boyfriend. It's exciting knowing that such a big event is in the works! The fact that Rick is in medical school (and will be in St. Louis until 2014) has made the date choice a little difficult, but mostly because I have this unmistakable need to decide the future today.

Also - for anyone who didn't get the story of the proposal, he did in Forest Park in St. Louis.

my beautiful ring!
